Principality Notice
PN 016/02: Sealand weather reports available
1 February 2002
The Principality is pleased to announce the introduction of its National
weather reporting service with effect from the first of February 2002. Data is
collected in real time and archived as well as being made available via the
internet from its government web sites
[http://weather.sealandgov.org]
and on request from Sealand Radio [International Marine Radio VHF channel 84].
Data currently collected includes wind speed and direction, current temperature
and barometric pressure, rainfall rate, and relative humidity. From these
parameters, wind chill, accumulated precipitation, barometric trends, and dew
point are additionally calculated and made available. Information on the
government web site is provided in both nautical and aviation formats.
It is hoped that this information will be helpful to shipping within and near
Principality territorial waters and be an aid to yachtsmen in the area. The
reporting service complements the existing weather information not now
available in the area and is intended to provide a continuity of weather
conditions information between the UK Met Office weather stations at Bulmer
and Bridlington and at Sheerness and Sangatte.
Further information may be obtained from the Bureau of Internal Affairs,
SEALAND 1001, Sealand Post Bag, IP11 9SZ, United Kingdom, or via email,
burint@sealandgov.org.
